All frequently, skincare suggestions seems aimed squarely at people who currently have best skin. But for those of us with, will we state, more difficult skins, lots of conventional skincare ‘musts’ are downright harmful to our face’s health and charm.
Take those people with dry skin. If your face ever feels tight and flaky, you understand that there are a couple of extremely important skincare rules to remember– and some things that you must constantly skip.
If My Skin Is Dry Should I Exfoliate?
If you have normal or oily skin, it’s probably great to avoid a day of moisturizing occasionally. Not so if you’re dry. If you have dry skin, you have to break out the huge guns.
To start with, you’ll probably wish to think about using two moisturizers. Use an abundant moisturizer in the evening after cleaning your face, and a lighter moisturizer with SPF of at least 30 in the early morning before using makeup. Make sure to use moisturizer on your neck and hands also– even Christina Hendricks does it, and her skin is incredible.
You can also amp up the hydration with natural oils on top of your night moisturizer. Argan oil, avocado oil, and jojoba oil are all terrific for dry skin and can be found online or in natural food stores (just make sure to prevent purchasing anything with added fragrance or any included active ingredients). You can even dab Vaseline on top of really dry spots in a pinch to assist trap moisture.
Dry skin frequently causes flakiness, and the first impulse is often to scrub the flakes away. When you have dry skin, this is the worst thing that you can do, specifically if you’re utilizing an exfoliant every day. Over-exfoliating is only going to irritate (and for that reason dry out) your skin more. Limitation your exfoliation to one to 3 times a week, and avoid any items that have beads or grains that tear at your skin. For physical exfoliating, a gentle scrub or a warm, damp washcloth will get the job done.
You could also try chemical exfoliating with using BHAs or AHAs, which assist to obtain rid of dead skin without any rough scrubbing. Simply make certain to use those moderately since they can dry your skin a lot more if you overdo it.
How To Exfoliate Extremely Dry/flaky Skin?
Q: My skin is very dry and flaky, it is actually bothersome when looking in the mirror and seeing all those flakes. I can just rub or scratch at my skin and everything starts to show. Simply splashing water on my skin dries it out ever more so im not sure there is anything I am going to be able to use however just questioning if anyone has any recommendations?
Answer: The baby brush method is the gentlest and most efficient kind of manual exfoliation I’ve discovered. My other favorite exfoliators are green cream (a retinol) and Paula’s choice SA gel.
Alternative answer: Don’t get puzzled by what others are saying. Stay true to the end objective. Your skin’s own oil system must work properly for your skin to look after itself. Else your just going to need to be handicapped with a moizturizer etc,, so to speak.
That stated, I too am going to misinform you now. I do not have the response to help your skin take care of yourself. I use neutrogena moisturizer for combination skin, I exfoliate after showering with a dry paper towel gently but as thorough as I can. Nevertheless, even if I get it as extensive as I can, its not actually gone, the flakiness is still there, the damaged flakes come back hours later when i check my face in the car mirror. So, I exfoliate with the paper towel the best I can and then I use very little of that moisturizer to cover the skin, I cannot say it treats my skin, however it does stop the flakes from showing up even up real close, and it doesn’t appear oily up until 6-8 hours later, which is fine if you ask me.
There might be a much better alternative, however keep in mind the tradeoffs. I do not think the consistent procedure of dry skin exfoliation, aka breaking off the flakes and moisturizing is the answer to ultimately gradually lowering the skin from getting dry and flaking. In truth it might even be making it even worse. I haven’t heard that success story yet from anyone, I’m all ears for anybody who wants to prove me wrong.
